I had an accident in my car over 3 months ago, which the other party involved was to blame as they went into the back of me. The other insurance company accepted liability and the car had been fixed and everyone was happy. Now nearly 4 months on I have had my renewal quote though the post and it has gone up from £384 to £971 and I now have no 'No claims bonus' either. Thinking that this surely was an error I gave Churchill a call and they explained to me that as they had not yet received payment from the other insurance company(as they had only just requested it that day), this meaning my claimed was still classed as "open" and I would need to pay the extra amount. I tried to explain to them that the accident wasn't my fault and all I got was a very rude and unhelpful attitude from the person who was claiming to be 'helping' me. So after this call and speaking to a few friends and relatives I have given them a call back today and asked for some more information. I have since been told that if I pay the extra amount I will be credited the difference once the payment has been received from the other company and also get my no claims discount back but they can't tell me what my cost will be once the payment has been received (they could charge me anything?!?!). And if I was to go to a different company I will loss my no claims bonus all together. I'm so confused; surely they cannot get away with this type of thing??

If anyone one could shine a bit of light on this it would be appreciated
