I used Smooth Over to repair walls after I had removed wallpaper. I found it very good. Basically the best tip I can offer is to apply the smooth over quickly and confidently. Dont worry about tram lines or slight imperfections - simply sand them out later. If you spend too much time re applying in an attempt to get a smoother finish you will end up getting in a mess and applying uneven layers over your wall, and you will use up loads of the product unnecessarily. Admitetedly, the final finish isnt as good as a good professional plasterer can do, but I was able to do a better job than an average plasterer, and at a cheaper price. Just be prepared to do a little sanding and you'll get a good result.
