We went to Alton Towers with children age 13 and 11 in July 09 and were really looking forward to it. We picked a day that we thought would be less busy as school holidays hadnt started in Staffordshire. On arriving i was horrified to see a sign asking us not to forget our £5 parking fee, and i said to my husband surely we havent got to pay to park the car when we are about to spend nearly £100 getting into the place, but yes you have to pay to park your car which is disgusting. We then managed to get on about 5 rides after queuing approx 1 hour for each and they were not even the really big rides which the queues were upwards of 90 mins. The biggest waste of money ever, i will never go again and would never recommend it to anyone. I've been to Thorpe Park and had a great day(they do not charge to park your car!)
