Since East Midlands trains took over the old Midland Mainline route from Derby to London the level of service has dropped.
I had always paid that bit extra for 1st class, but now the extra money isn't worth what you get.
The coffee tastes foul, the snacks have shrunk to something which wouldn't satisfy even a small child, seat reservations are sometimes nowhere to be found, luggage space on some trains is a joke. Sometimes the only place for luggage is in the wheelchair space. Wine is no longer served on trains leaving after 7pm (before wine used to be served well into the evening).
East Midlands Trains (Stagecoach) are just wanting to reduce the service as much as possible without actually reducing the cost of the tickets.
I contacted East Midlands Trains about the level of service and they have not had the decency to reply (much the same as many companies now... companies no longer care about service they just want profit and don't care if the customer is unhappy).
