I booked the rental through www.carhire3000.com, I got a good deal (initially) for 35 days was '23.62 per day for a Peugeot 407. I had a medical emergency towards the end of the rental and needed to extend by 4 days. That was done over the phone with great difficulty after being put on hold by carhire3000 for over an hour over a 2 hour period and they still could not resolve the matter. Finally after more phone calls to Thrifty at Dublin airport and having to ring different numbers I got the extension for a higher rate of '148 for 4 days (now costing '36.87 per day). The car was to be returned nearing a bank holiday weekend but as we then had a hospital appointment postponed for a week we needed the car for another 4 days. This time they were appaling, rude, poor service and unhelpful. I rang Thrifty Dublin airport, they told me to call back tomorow as reservations were closed after 6 pm and I would have to sort it out with them, that was at 7:30 pm. I thought car hire companies are available longer than regular office hours?! I called the following day at 5:40 pm to be told by them that reservations close at 5pm and when I explained I had called the previous day, etc his reply was "she is a new employee, she wouldn't know the correct times they work"! Appalling. Still no solution to my problem as nobody there to deal with it. Day 3 calling Thrifty, by now the car is due back in Dublin. I finally got through and spoke to someone there, he wasn't very helpful or apologetic about the dismal service I had endured over the phone for 2 consecutive days. As the car was due back that day, they could not extend the contract and I was forced to take out a new contract at a rate of '116.37 per day - this is the same car I have had since 29/6 which I hired for '23.62 on the first day. I was outraged, I can understand having to pay 20-30% higher rate but 500% of an increase the worst treatment I have ever endured in the car hire industry. They just kept babbling about "it's a busy period, these are the market rates, they are the rates you have to pay, it doesn't matter that you have hired this car 6 weeks prior to today, this is what you have to pay".

After this appaling treatment I will never use Thrifty again or recommend them.
