We have just returned from a week at the Costa Verde resort (2 adults + 3 children) and absolutely loved it. The facilities are fantastic and include a huge pool with swim up bar, gym, multiple restaurants / snack areas, entertainment and some good excursions. The staff are very friendly, nothing is too much trouble for them and they DO NOT expect to be tipped (contrary to another review, water is provided / refreshed in the fridge daily on request - you only need to leave a note for the maid). Tipping is completely voluntary, no different to anywhere else in the world and is received with genuine gratitude and thanks. There is a good variety of food for all tastes and both informal and formal dining (all of which we rated good to very good). The rooms we stayed in would have benefited from a little refurb but were clean. The resorts beach is quiet, cleaned daily and has powder sand and shallow clear blue water safe for children to swim / paddle. For those looking to explore Cuba, the resort is a little isolated but provides car hire / excursions. Our children loved the resort and we were all very dissapointed to have to return home after just one week. There will always be those that find fault but all the other holidaymakers I spoke to had nothing but praise for the resort and its staff. All inclusive unfortunately often rarely means that but at Costa Verde its very difficult to find anything to spend money on. This was our first but hopefully not our last trip to Cuba.
