I have just tried getting Talk Talk in my new house, which requires a new line. The order was made 3 weeks ago and the installation was due to take place 17 days after the order was placed, with Talk Talk supposedly to contact me a week before to confirm the day of the installation. To my surprise I have the installation person ring me asking for access to the house when he comes round in half an hour, I am at work and tell him that's not possible. Talk Talk now refuse to cancel the contract as it is outside of their 14 day cooling off period, even though this is their responsibility and is a direct cause of their ineptness. Anyone struggling should quote OFCOM and ORTEL and Sales of Goods and Services act, which allows you to cancel due to their poor and unreliable service ie not delivering what you pay for
