“I stayed at the Parkdean Holidays, Torquay Holiday...

Written on: 02/09/2009

I stayed at the Parkdean Holidays, Torquay Holiday Park in June. We stayed in a Riviera and found the overal cleanliness extremely poor. We tried to use the pool- but found the facilities disgusting and my young daughter cut her foot inside the pool on jagged underwater tiles.

The Patio bar was terrible- cold microwavable food and bad service. The staff appearance was poor and I expect are a reflection on how bad the park is. The hills are a nightmare- for anyone with any slight mobility issues DONT STAY HERE- they will explain 'slight' hills- please do not listen. You need 1st gear in your car. You have to walk over 10 minutes to the bus stop up a narrow lane, there is no sunlight due to a tunnel of tree's very dangerous if later in the day. You then to walk into a residential street. NOT VERY SEASIDEY! The beach is miles away- 3 to be precise. The brochure does not reflect the truth.

The entertainment again was poor- bad comedian, bad singers, bad facilities- the bar was full of flys on the spouts of wine/spirits/beer- the staff very miserable and slow.

The reception staff were speedy- A young girl helped us move caravans and wavered the £20 admin fee. She also helped find us a local restuarant to eat with the family and suggested various attractions- providingus with discount. She was an asset.

Overal a bad experience- We love torquay but will never return due to the outdated park. Would have been fabulous in the 8o's or 90's but for the money I recommend a better site in Paignton.
