I insured a rescued 6 year old cat for the top gold plan for life insurance in Dec 2008 from Pet Plan UK. I asked about whether this was increased as in 10 years time £6,000 would be nothing and was told no, no increase for inflation. I took it out anyway, then my cat had a major op in Jan 09 which cost £5,510... then he injured his elbow in July 09 and needed an op to put 2 screws in it.. Pet plan only paid the balance £490... when I checked the website their top plan is now £12,000, but I wasn't upgraded to this.. or even asked if I wanted to go on it. they obviously realize that the £6,000 isn't enough to cover things on the top rate and now don't even do £6,000.
My vets told me Pet Plan used to be good.....in fact that was why I went with Pet Plan..

I dont think you just get moved onto the higher level of cover, from my experience you can ask to be moved onto it at your renewal.
And they do the 6,000 cover still as I insured my cat on it 2 days ago. For some reason they dont have it on the website though, I had to phone up to do it.
