We went in to pick out our list at the John Lewis Oxford Street store. The first scanner we were given ran out of battery, so we headed back up to the top floor (there are six of them) to replace it. Then the next one logged us out as soon as we got back down to the basement. So we ended up writing the numbers down and then headed back up to replace it. The woman on the desk was less than interested and told us to queue behind all the tourists who were getting their VAT back. After a while we decided not to queue any more and asked them to add the other items to our list which they said they couldn't do. So we gave them scanner and gave up.

We were making a day of it so went for a meal, half way through we got a call from John Lewis asking us to return their scanner!

The variety on offer was poor on several items - all their crockery was on special so we couldn't add any Denby and we then got an email telling us that a load of other stuff would have to be removed from the list. On the day, the staff behaved like they didn't care.

Annoyingly we had already sent out the invites with the details so it was too late to change.

It's annoying that you can't organise your list in the order you want. So people are buying the things at the top - you only get the choice of priority items or not.

Poor poor poor. I wish I had read these reviews first.
