Had a non fault accident back in July this year, in which I was hit from behind.3rd party accepted liability, so you think there would be no problems.

The main issue seems to be that in the case of a Non fault accident, ADMIRAL automatically pass you onto a Albany Assistance who deal with Legal expenses cliams. Once you have been passed to Albany assistance, this seems to be where the problems occur, as I explain below:-

1. Needed another hire Vehicle to tow a caravan as I was needed to Tow a caravan back from asite later that week. Unfortunately Albany only deal with one car hire Company, so it took over 13 days to get the hire vehicle needed. The main issue I had with this is that the company asks you pay an additiiional £40.00, in order that you are exempt from an excess charge of £250.00 should there any claim during the time you are driving the vehicle. This applies weather it is your fault or not. I had little choice, but to pay this, in order that I was not liable in that instance. I am now told that I cannot cliam this back from the Third party insurers, for which I am currently complaining about!!

2. Having had my own vehicle regarded as Class C damaged repairable, I decided to repair the vehicle myself, since I am definitely cannot afford to replace it. I was originally offered £680.00 for Vehicle, but after querying this with the enginner, managed to increase it to £730.00.
However, the main problem here is that the vehicle now requires a VIC check in order for me to be re-insure it, which costs an additional £41.00 and ontop of that I have to pay for the vehicle to be transported from the repairer to my local VIC centre, which costs an additional 45.00. Further, I may need to pay subsequent transport costs, if the vehicle does not pass its VIC check. Again, Alabany have told me that I cannot claim this back, but I will be pursuing this.

It has now been almost six weeks since the accident and no cheque has yet arrived and I have been chased several times by the garage who repaired the vehicle for their costs. After insisting that Albany ring this garage while I was on the telephone to them, I seemed to have magically stopped the phone calls for the time being.

3. Having got stroppy with a telephone assistant, who told me there was no managers available to speak to, I eventually managed to speak to somebody further up the hirachy and was told to send receipts for all these expenses, but that the third would not necessarily reinburse me for these costs.

I will keep you posted in due course, but in the meantime, I will be voting with my feet and using another company.
