We went to the Club Tonga Hotel for a 7 night stay with 4 adults and two children (2 and 8). On arrival early Sunday morning, we were not expected until after 12 noon and no rooms were available. We were, however, allocated two rooms together on the 14th floor reasonably quickly. There are 4 lifts. Three of them are tiny and they are extremely slow to access at meal times.

The rooms were clean and were serviced daily. Don't expect luxury, though! The restaurant was always extremely busy with some tables, strangely, roped off. The food was not great, but wasn't awful. We really only ate in the hotel at breakfast time, but had the occasional evening meal. Snacks were adequate, but nothing special. Expect queues at the bar with local beer being served with a huge head in a plastic tumbler smaller than a half pint. All other drinks in the all inclusive package are locally produced, as you would expect, but there is a good range.

The two pools were always busy, but there was never a problem getting hold of sunbeds, as there seemed to be plenty. There are no parasols, but some trees provide shade if you position yourself properly. Activities during the day are the usual - boules, water polo, scuba, etc - with something on each morning and afternoon.

The early evening entertainment seemed to be enjoyed by all the kids taking part. The musical shows later really were quite poor, but the staff were very enthusiastic and tried their best.

The hotel is a five minute, or so, walk from the beach. Very safe for swimming with lifeguards always on duty. The resort itself is very pleasant with some nice shops and one or two very good bars.

All in all, the Club Tonga Hotel not nearly as good as some of the reviews claim, but it's not the worst place on the planet. If you can get a cheap deal, then it would be worth considering. If you are quoted any more than around £275 each for all inclusive, maybe look elsewhere.
