So my wife and I flew to Maui for a second honeymoon. Who cares about the flight, you're going to Maui!!! We get home, and I want to use the miles that we've accumulated (just over 21,000 between the two of us) to go visit my friend that's getting married in less than a year.

Since American Airlines doesn't have family plans, I had to open up separate accounts for my wife and I to earn the miles. When trying to transfer miles from her account to my account, I'm told that I need to pay a $140 processing fee in order to do so!!!! So the $2K+ that was paid on the original flight wasn't good enough?!?!?! Now they want a $140 processing fee to transfer miles that we've already accumulated, sitting on there cramped uncomfortable planes, to go see a friend of mine that will no longer be living where he is?!?!?! Hmmmmm...NO THANKS!

The cost of transferring miles, plus the cost of the extra miles I would've had to purchase to fulfill the trip (another 4K costing approx $120-$130) was equivalent to the trip I was trying to book!!! So the lady on the phone tells me, well just purchase the ticket then, and you can earn even more miles...I WANT TO USE MY MILES!!! Are we serious here?!?!

We're not rich people, and we don't fly very often, so you'd think they'd have some sort of program, or way of giving us the miles we've already accumulated without having to pay another arm and leg for them!!! I thought this to be ABSOLUTELY ABSURD, and was appalled by my findings. I'll NEVER fly AA again.
