Larnaca Airport was built in a hurry during the Turkish war, as the Turks bombed Nicosia Airport. I suppose that's the reason Larnaca Airport's so small, massively over-crowded, and horrible. There are hardly any shops, and when I got a 14hour delay on Cyprus Airways, it was unbearable the amount of people passing by etc. especially as basically no shops to go to. Thankfully there's a new terminal opening on 11th November 2009, and I drove past it and it looks HUGE!!!! I'd say at least 20 times the size of the current terminal!!! It's very modern, and will have loads of shops, and have airbridges which saves having to catch a coach from departures to the aircraft. The new airport looks really nice and I can't wait to travel through it next summer!
