AVOID Fitness First - Leicester Central!
Reasons Why:
1) Cramped conditions - if you like punching other members in the face whilst using the equipment then you're at the right gym. The gym is based in an old retail centre and the building is just not right for a gym
2) Poor facilities. Although they have the correct machines, they are poorly maintained and unless you go at stupid-o-clock you'll never get on them. When on the chest press I don't want a creak and then a squeak during each rep!
3) Steam, Shower, Sauna are awful! They smell, mould everywhere, nowhere to place you towels. Clearly these facilities were put in as an after thought!
4) Staff - CLUELESS!
5) (and my main gripe) - I signed up, stupidly, for a 12 month contract. Before hand I wasn't offered a free day trial or a show around the facility. Within 2 visits I wasn't happy at the gym. Not one person had said hi to me, I couldn't workout properly because people were ignorantly trying to walk through a tight gap between me and the machines, and the taps where I tried to re-fil my water bottle produced less water than the desert!
So I tried to cancel my membership within the 10 days. However the membership lady was off with Swine Flu. It then took another 2 and a half weeks are constant questioning and phone calls before I finally got in contact. Obviously I was then a month into my contract - FAR TO LATE TO CANCEL NOW! So they are trying to charge me for the full 12 month contract to leave. They appear to have made no note of my initial enquiry to leave within 10 days, and it now turns out that I could have been referred on the day I asked to leave as he had the power to release me from my contract. However the numpty on the reception desk "forgot to mention" that.
Please please please PLEASE! don't join Fitness First!
