- Value for money

Hving just returned from Haggerston Castle, I would have to say NEVER AGAIN!!We paid for a better caravan and to be fair the 1st caravan was very nice EXCEPT the kind people who had been in prior to us obviously smoked in every room (probabaly due to the boredom) and threw 40+ cigarette ends out the front door (we gave up counting at 40), and the toilet stank. We moved to caravan 2 - small old tatty and 4 stools around the dining table (there were 7 of us, 4 adults 3 children,) Moved to caravan 3 which was fine except a missing matress,no bedding and quilts that even the housekeeping guys pulled a face at and exchanged. Having lost the plot never mind being soaked as half the site was under several inches/feet of rain water, but hey this is August in England, we didnt have a great start. THEN.........
We queued for 30 mins for the swimming pool, you get 1 hr (including time to change)and with only about 12 changing rooms believe me its NOT FUN.Oh and the slide was broken all week.
The entertainment rooms were dark hot smelly and you stuck to the carpets, and chairs if you managed to get one.
If you have children you will need a fortune for the slot machines/rides.
At £10 for half an hr for the swan boats on the lake and daisy bikes this seemed quite dear BUT dont forget to take ANOTHER £20 with you for the refundable deposit and nothing seemed to be open until 10am - who has young children who arent up on hol wanting to do something long before then?
We have a tent and have camped for the last 20 years on all sorts of sites here and abroad so are used to all sorts of conditions,(as long as its clean we arent fussy), so having a caravan was supposed to be a bit more luxurious,- WE WERE SO WRONG. Looking for campsites for next year and NO NOT HAVEN ONES.

Centre Parcs say that is was due to refurbishment, I beleive it was due to labour costs at this quiet time of the year. Albeit still great choice in the eating department.
