BT (I have the credit card statement to prove it)charged me twice for my BT line rental in one month. I wrote and asked for a refund plus interest on the amount, plus £120 for the one hour I had to take out of my working day to deal with their incompetence and discover a telephone number on their website that actually connected to a living being. I eventually received a refund - no apology - and nothing else.
BT's incompetence beggars belief. They charged me over £700 to install a Broadband service which never worked. They sent an engineer to my house who disconnected my telephone line on the grounds that the wiring was over 20 years old. An independent company later discovered the only thing wrong with the wiring and telephone line was that it had been disconnected by a BT engineer. And to top it all they discovered the only reason my Broadband didn't work was that BT had fitted the wrong components to our incoming line box. Try complaining to BT and if you're very lucky you might get connected to a call centre whose workers are ill-mannered and disinterested. One actually told me they never took money twice from the same account in the same week. It was an impossibility.
Athough we subscribe to the telephone preferential service we have received six calls over the last two weeks attempting to sell us BT services. I have switched to Sky telphone rental and service. They are pleasant polite and actual provide a service. What has happened to BT? A company that was once well thought of?
