My wife and i went to Glossop Caravans on the twenty sixth of July,saw a caravan we liked and went to the sales office (this is the 5th or 6th caravan we have bought from Glossop).We eventually did a deal on our part exchange vehicle an Autotrail Cheyanne 635Se on a 2002 plate with just over 14000 miles recorded.A staff member agreed to fit a motor-mover as i have spinal problems.I said at the time i did not want delivery of the caravan untill September as i was changing my tow vehicle.
But no, we have to have the caravan on the 11th August.I rang on the 7th to check everything was ok as the staff member offered to deliver the van to us when it was ready... Mistake ONE he had not arranged this with Dispatch so they get onto the phone asking if it can be done on the 13th fine by us 11am they say. Great!!!!!later that day can you come in for 10am Yes we say.
We drive over in the motorhome and get there for 10am. The keys were taken from us for the motorhome and it was inspected. Its in lovely condition,isnt the mileage low,a pity about the scratch on the n/s this was done before we purchased it in 2005.Documents handed over and off goes the motorhome.
We are then escorted to the caravan for a pre-delivery tour of the caravan,you get the drift this is this and that is that.All at warpspeed20
When he was catching a breath i said that i was a little twitchy as i could not see my £1500 motor-movers remote control.What motor =mover??there is no motor =mover on the order Mistake TWO. End of tour round our caravan,back to the sales office.
Now we meet a glimmer of hope another staff member who in my humble opinion is one of the few that know what is going on at Brookfield took over, cup of coffee and driver organised to take us back to North Wales as the motor=mover could not be fitted untill the following week,delivery fixed for the following Thursday the 20th.At this time no one knew what amount the first staff member had allowed/charged for fitting the mover.....I knew it was £1500,i'm one of those boring people that write everything down at the time.Questions were being banded about that it would cost another £500.Mistake 3;
You can google this and get a fitter to come to your home and fit the unit for £1300....I was pushed into paying another £150....

Thursday arrives and up turns the driver with the caravan and the £1650 motor=mover worked great for 20 minutes works out at £83 a minute.
I went through all the faults in the booklet tried to get in touch with Aftersales workshop 4 times and no reply. mistake 4.
I then spoke to the makers technical dept who think it was the control unit,we will get one out to you asap.As this was 4pm i thought the unit would arrive Friday or Saturday MY mistake.
As it did not arrive i rang the makers on Monday and was told that they do not have them on the shelf and it would have to be built and tested,maybe by the end of the week.........mistake 6
Guess what 10 minutes later TNT deliver the unit and a fitter would be in touch to fit it.
Great until 4pm Glossop Caravans arrive to take away the caravan....mistake 7.............Half an hour later we find the driver has been sent to the wrong place.........So back it comes......As i have now fallen asleep three times i will close but rest assured i will be back as this is not anywhere near sorted
The stars I gave at the start of this saga are for the second member of staff and the poor driver who remained cool, calm and collected.

    I have also found Glossop Caravans to be dissorganised and very difficult to contact. After delivering complaint letters to one of the directors, fist by post and second by hand delivery I have not even recieved a response.
