Have had this Suzuki Burgman 650 for 6 years now, 30k miles, with very mixed feelings. It was one of the early ones, so Suzuki may have improved the quality and sorted out some problems by now, but mine had to be collected three times for warranty work. Front and rear calipers had to be replaced after 5 years, both wheel bearings (one on warranty), several other bits and pieces, so not happy about build quality. It has just started to use a bit of oil. Service intervals 3750 miles, quite expensive.

This is a very wide bike, difficult in traffic. If buying second had make sure you get the electric folding mirrors, I am constantly folding mine in and out, and occasionally clipping some irate driver's wing mirror. On the other hand, the width gives you excellent rear view.

Petrol consumption is quite high, 12 miles per litre. A tank will do 180 miles, so my present 60 mile trip to work means I am filling up almost every day. It has a lot of oomph, in fact I would prefer less power and lower revs at high speed - it needs a higher gear. At 100 mph it is nearly in the red.

Good points - it is a very smooth ride, even at high speed this bike just glides along. The suspension has to very stiff to give it reasonable handling, so bumpy roads can jolt a bit - not terribly comfortable for the pillion. The bike has plenty of torque, you hardly feel the difference two up. To achieve the smoothness it needs lots of counterweights, so this bike is very heavy for the size.

Overall, it's a lovely looking bike, but if I were to buy again I would go for the Silverwing.
