Zurich Car Insurance Review

I bought car insurance with the AA about a year ago now. I had an accident 2 months ago to which was not my fault (as someone went into the side of me).

I initially phoned AA about the accident to which they reffered me to Zurich and this is where the fun started. By the way, I would argue if the AA is not going to handle the insurance claim their name should not be on the insurance policy. This is disigenous to the exreme and as such the AA has lost any credebility it once had with me.

Anyway, I initially phoned Zurich up to notify them of the accient whilst passing all relevant details of the third party. I then waited 2 weeks but no reply. I then phoned them up to assess the progres of the claim, to which there was none. I suggested they send me a accident report for me to fill in which they did (should I be telling them what to do??).

Now, I have waited 6 weeks for a reply. I have phoned them countless times and have be put on hold an unaceptable amount of time (15 minutes) which I was charged (as the dispute teams number is prefixed with an 0870 number!!!!). Also, I phoned up one day to be greeted with an answering message stating that 'Custom Service staff are on training for the day, please call back tomorrow'. All I can say is unbelievable!!!! Do insurance companies realise they are providing you with a service that you pay for!!!!

I finally got through today (17/09/2009) where a considerable uneducated woman at the other end of the phone told me there is no evidence as to determine the fault so it would have to go 50:50. I then told them that had they sent someone out to see my car it would be a signifacnt help in determining the party in fault, to which she agreed. They are now sending an assessor out!!! Ahhhhh!!

Bottom line anyone reading this to take heed. I am not the type of person to write reviews but I feel like I need to warn people about Zurich. Look at you're insurance underwriter. If it says Zurich, dont bother. As I have learned, you only know if an insurance company is worth their salt when you have had an accident. Chances are the cheapest offer is not necessarily the best.

If you are in the unfortunate position of currently pursuing a claim with Zurich then do not agree to their demands. They are supposed to be provding you with a service. I get the impression they feel like they have a right to you're money but do nothing for it. They need to realise this is internet age. People will comment on their service. Zurich needs to realise people arent going to put up with bad service. This is the internet age, people will comment and be deterred. Wake up Zurich.
