First Choice ruined what was meant to be a happy family holiday. The problems, I now know, were mostly at point of sale - in our case in January 2009, some seven months before departure. We booked through First Choice at their local office, and my main bone of contention is that they did not explain details which they most definitely could have done (as they have a full time rep working in the apartments we stayed in) and which would have made us book a completely different holiday to the one we did. In January they told us that the total price included a 4-day ticket (for 2 adults and 2 young children) to the PortAventura theme park near Salou, Spain. When we collected our tickets 6 months later they denied ever making such an offer, so we had no choice but to buy those tickets separately, at a cost of over £200. Our apartment building was generally as described but there were two things that made life a misery. First, our balcony was barely 50 yards from a neighbouring hotel which had live music playing outside by the pool from 7.30 to midnight, and it was really loud. It may be typical but the company should have made us aware of it. Even with all the windows shut and curtains drawn it was really impossible to sleep, and of course it was stiflingly hot as well. The other headache was parking our hire car. This was bordering on unbelievable - whenever we went out, it usually took an hour of driving constantly round the block (regardless of the time of day or night) to find a parking space. It made us regret hiring a car at all - which was arranged by First Choice, who once again must have been aware of the parking difficulties and should have made us aware too at point of sale. But they didn't, of course, and once they had our money they just couldn't care less.
They are devious, they don't pass on vital information that you need to know and their aftersales customer service is cold and indifferent. Needless to say we will avoid them like the plague in future.
