Someone drove into my parked car whilst stationary. Luckily they stopped and were happy for a claim against their insurance. I contacted swiftcover to be told that my excess was £750. I asked them to check my policy and they said I had a compulsary excess of £250 and voluntary excess of £500 making the total excess £750. In essence, to Swiftcover, COMPULSARY and VOLUNTARY mean the same thing, which to the rest of the English speaking is totally bizarre.

Their customer service is appalling, with staff who show no interest or desire to help. They are quite simply the worse insurance company I have ever used.

My advice - pay the extra money and use another company. .

    I found this review very helpful because...like the writer I did not consider that voluntary meant the same as compulsory so instead of my excess beign the £250 I thought it was it would actually be £500! I juts have to keep everything crossed that I don't have an accident now.
