Got cable as I wanted higher speeds being some distance from a BT Exchange I was only getting 1mb on a good day.
Changed to Virgin cable and only took the Broadband Package which was £ 15 per month less £ 1 if you selected e-billing. I did this as I was online anyway. I went through the contract which arrived on the same day the engineer installed the Cable. It made no sense what so ever it contained various discounts which ended after 6 months. I refused to sign it and contacted Virgin who said the discount would carry on for 12 months and I would have to ring to renew it.?
The service has been fine I have hardly even been cut off or experienced downtime. The speed during the day is really quite fast I am regularly getting 10mb. However as soon as it gets to 5pm the service drops to an absolute crawl. Getting 1mb more often than not.
I do not download big files or file share music. I also don't play these online games. So why is it slow. Simple the engineer I spoke with said the servers covering my area are being slowed down because people are using them to much?.
Talk about stupid the whole idea of cable is the system should not suffer the same contention or distance problems BT suffer.
After 6 months they have put my Bill up by £ 5 per month. I complained and they refused to keep the discount going saying the member of staff would never have said that to me.
There customer services are all in India and you cant understand what they say as the volume is low and the level of English is Poor.
In all stick to BT and only use these idiots in an emergency where BT dont operate.
