    Best for teens and adults

Me and my boyfriend went to Alton Towers staying one night at the hotel with two days in the park for a reasonable price (we had the two for one offer).
The best part of the park is the rides which are amazing if not too short. The queues however are atrocious lasting well over an hour (even for Spinball Whizzer we queued an hour and it isn't even a main ride!). This can be annoying, especially if you have younger children who may become restless, which is why groups of young adults would be best suited to this park, despite the big attraction to kids.
There are plenty of places to eat at, notibly Burger King, KFC and various grills. The prices for these are higher than normal, i.e. imagine service station prices. We chose to have pie and mash from a stand which we had a little discount for.
It takes quite a while to walk to each ride so make sure you have something comfy on your feet!
The Alton Towers Hotel was lovely with great furnishings and the bed in the room was HUGE! Great for young couples. The bath was also quite nice and deep which is a luxury after a long day walking.
The restaurant in the hotel was quite expensive and 'posh' looking, which wasn't what we wanted. We walked round to the Splash Landings restaurant and it was fab. £16 for a meal sounds a lot but you can get as much as you want from a huge selection of different foods. The chocolate fountain looked amazing but I was too stuffed to attempt a pudding!
The breakfast next day was self service with cereals, toast and a full english. I felt a bit full which made me worried as we went straight for the rides at 9am, but I was fine. Well worth early ride time as we ran to Rita and got on the front row in less than 10 minutes :)
Value for money? Perhaps if you have a bit to spend and want to enjoy yourself. Cannot comment on the car park as we got the train and bus which could be better... but it's what you have to put up with if you want the experience.
