On 29.7.09 I took the family to This Chef and Brewer pub in the lovely village of Shere.
We ordered the 2 course lunch and kids menu. When the food arrived it was very average . I settled at the bar- only to find we had been overcharged by > £ 5.50 . The manager was incredibly rude and said it was my word against his staffs he challenged my request for clarification of the bill ... they had charged the meal components seperately contrary to the advertised price menu .How many other people are caught out by this system ... I was told we had not made it evident when the order was taken as to which menu option we wanted ! as I was holding the 2 course list in my hand and the kids menu is a set price anyway - I challenged the manager... who after degrading me in front of the bar area .. soon realised this women was not to be fobbed off !!
I also worked in the retail industry as a manager for a blue chip organisation .. and I was appalled at the tirade I recieved.
I will be taking our money elsewhere in future and and advise fellow surrey-ites to avoid this establishment at all costs!
