Just returned from a four night stay at Haggerston Castle with my husband and two kids aged 14. On arrival we were pleasantly surprised - the site itself is nice, clean and well run and booking in was quick and efficient. Our caravan was fine, clean and tidy and well situated. Thats the end of the positives I'm afraid, the rest of the place was a complete letdown.
The website promised a kids club (T co) for teenagers offering loads of activities which on arrival we found was non existent - though this advertising is misleading and disappointing it is not my main gripe. Nothing is free apart from swimming which you have to book in advance and are allowed 1 hour - which includes time for dressing. The pool itself is very small for the size of the place and gets very cramped though there is another small outdoor pool.
Food on the site is generally poor and expensive, with long waiting times due to the volume of people and shortage of staff - we waited well over an hour for two deserts. All the food is fast food type - lots of chips, burgers and pizzas but disappointingly no salads or vegetables in sight even in the convenience store. We went to the Co-op in Berwick and bought decent food back to the caravan.
My main gripe about the whole holiday was the evening entertainment which I'm sure was very good unfortunately we couldn't get a seat all week in the bars to see it as it was so busy. There were plenty of things we wanted to see and the girls wanted to play bingo but by the time we got into the bars they were packed to the rafters with no chance of a seat this happened every night of our holiday, we couldn't even sit on the floor as every available space was taken in both the bars. With all the other available activities finishing around 5 o clock (apart from the never-ending slot machines)we were at a loss as to what to do all evening. We ended up sitting either outside if it wasn't too freezing cold or in the restaurant bar which shut at 9 o clock. We ended up getting a bottle of wine and going back to the caravan every night to play cards!!We could have done that at home for FREE!!
Haggerston Castle needs at least another two bars to cater for the amount of people they take in.
All in all a very disappointing holiday which will never be repeated.
We will definitely be visiting Northumberland again it is truly beautiful but we will try the caravan park in Berwick next time.

Centre Parcs say that is was due to refurbishment, I beleive it was due to labour costs at this quiet time of the year. Albeit still great choice in the eating department.
