I gave up my seat since United overbooked the flight. By doing so, United gave me a free ticket voucher so I figured the hassle was worth it. I have tried many times to redeem the ticket and United won't honor it. They tell me the flights I want are booked up and I look online and there are countless openings. Then they tell me its because my free ticket isn't valid for the dates I want. I'd understand if I called last minute, but I call at least one month in advance and have tried several times.
If you ever get asked to give up your seat never do it. I will never ever fly United again and I have been loyal to United for a very long time.
