PLEASE READ THE SMALL PRINT !!!!!
im a vet nurse and im warning owners who take out Tesco pet insurance !
like any insurance company they are quite willing to take your money but not giving it back .
when taking out a new policey from scratch always look at the following
1. if its a 12 month policey or life long !
(12 months means if your pet has a condition or injury once you have taken out the policey, for example : arthritis of the pelvis ! insurance companys will only pay out for that condition for 12 months ! if its a life long policeys you pay or excess at the beginning of every policey year but they still pay out!
if you take a insurance for your pet and have paid out for any treatment before hand eg: abcess on left ear ... if the abcess for example hasnt come back with in 2 years u may be able to claim again if it should happen again ...but please look into this as many will not cover at all with anything todo with that ear for example
if on the other hand your pet has had arthritis for example before you take out any insurance this wil not be covered on both 12 month and life long policeys as this was a pre-condition .
2. exclustions !
please read if they cover for urine problems ...mainly in cat insurance !
in the small print it will state if they cover for anything todo with cystitis.. bladder/ kidney stones etc .
this is classed as a life long condition and may exclude ...this is importand in cat insurance as it is a common problem in overweight cats !!!
3. your yearly payments WILL go up every year ..usally over the age 8 as they are classes and seniors and more problems start
4 . LIFE LONG INSURANCE IS BETTER
life long insurance is better than any 12 months policey .
we have had many problems as a vet surgery in claiming for owners on 12 months policeys as they like to pick and choose when they pay out .....
TESCOS is not the best insurance ...we recommend PETPLAN !!! they pay out , great on the phone cover urine problems its life long
but please any insurance is always better than no insurance at all ...some people have there own saving accounts for there pets but this is not always best. if your pet was in a road accicent for example but had only been putting away £20 for the last 3 months ..that will still not be enough to cover costs
hope this has helped !
