I had a mobile phone contract with Carphone Warehouse for 18 months, half way through they
increased charges for some of the services. In the contract it said that in
such circumstances they will inform me about such changes in advance and I
will have 30 days to terminate the contract with them if I do not accept the
changes. But they did not inform me about the change, they did not call or send
a letter. They say that they send me a text message, but I have never
received it. I had a dispute with them, I asked them many times to send me a copy of
that text message that they had supposedly sent to me, or any other evidence
of them sending it, but they never sent any such thing. I only found out
about the price increase when I received my new bill in Oct 2007 or so, this
bill was about 2-3 times higher than my usual bills. I sent many letters to
Carphone Warehouse cancellation department and to their customer service
requesting termination of service and termination of contract, but they simply
ignored me, they did not even reply to my letters and they kept my service on and
they kept sending bills for the following months. I stopped using the phone in
Nov 2007 and I informed them that according to the rules from the contract,
I cancelled my contract with them within 30 days of me finding out about the
price increase.
Now I discovered that they reported me to the Credit Reference Agencies,
Experian and Equifax, I have a default account and they claim that I owe them
630 pounds.
