Alitalia is the worst airline I have ever flown. We flew from Boston to Rome (non stop flight)and back. What screw up didn't happen should be the question. They: lost our luggage, gave us a phone numbers & website that were useless, and gave the seats I booked months in advanced to someone else (several people experienced this on the flight) and stuck us in the last row next to the bathrooms. I had to track down my luggage myself as they literally couldn't tell me where it was (what is the point of all the barcodes they stick on the luggage) and then spend approx 150 euros with train and taxi rides. Their customer service stinks, their airplanes are dirty (huge stain on one seat, crumbs all over another), and they can't fly on schedule. We flew them 2 years ago and they were good, but holy crap they just stink now. More miseries but this is enough, you are playing with fire if you fly with them.
