I've used Clairol Natural Instincts many times and a variety of colors. First I did Sedona Sunset (16RG) which barely changed my color but it was the color it said it would be. So I redyed it in a darker shade Golden Mahogany (18RG). It was like Jean Grey from X-Men. So I faded it out and put Tweed (14) and Pecan (18) over my hair. It was just more auburn than red after that which is what I wanted but it didn't look as good as I thought. I waited a month or so and put Brass Free in Medium Brown over it.. it was really dark but it looked fine. I still have the red in my hair to some extent but overall I liked the color and the product smells good too. Just make sure if you don't want red-ish or brassy hair that you avoid anything with golden or red undertones.
