One word. Awful. My wife had a puncture and had our baby daughter (< 1 year old in the back). She called the AA to ask for assistance. She informed them of the situation.

She was then asked whether she had a spare. She confirmed that she did. She was then asked where the spare was. She said its in the boot of the car. She was then asked EXACTLY where is the spare. She said she did not know EXACTLY where it was, other than she had seen it in the boot of the car.

The AA refused to send someone out unless my wife, with a baby, could specify exactly where the spare was.

After much remonstrations, she eventually gave up, called her friend, locked up the car and got driven home.

I fixed the puncture and discussed this level of customer service with the AA (whom we have never called in the 3 years we had been with them). I was told this was policy and that every driver needs to be able to specify where their spare is. Despite being unable to point to where this is written in the terms and conditions, they insisted this to be the case.

I have cancelled our policy and am looking sites like these to pick a better service so we do not experience the same level of care as we did with the AA.
