I was to flight to Savonlina for a conference yesterday but due to road problems I arrived at the check-in counter at Heathrow airport for my first flight to Helsinki with a mere 3 min delay at 9.37 am for my 10.20 flight. Actually, I was there when the person at the counter closed down and she personally denied me to board. Going at the Finnair counter they said they would try to board me to the next flight and I should come back at 3pm. Yet, coming back at 3pm the person at the counter neglected the note left by her colleague, refused any help or understanding and then informed me that the UK office of Finnair was now (Since 2pm) closed for the weekend. Furthermore, she refused, as promised earlier to try to board me to any other flight, or even pay for an upgrade to BA-operated one later on. Moreover, waiting around all day I missed all other flights to Helsinki or Savonlinna. Finally, I had to personally call the Helsinki Finnair office to be told that, as I missed the first of my 4 flights (London to Helsinki, Helsinki to Savonlinna and back) they now decided to cancel all of them, refused to let me re-arrange or give me any compensation. They also informed me that they were unable to help me with the London Heathrow Terminal 3 counter and the utter unwillingness and bad attitude of the staff. Now, I have missed the start and half of the conference, the same flights would be over 1,500 euros and has led to great discomfort, economic disaster. The mis-fidding of information, the horrible treatment and the general unhelpful atmosphere made this the worst service I have ever received. BA, easy Jet, Minoan Air, Alitalia, Agean or Olympic Airlines have all offered a class-different better treatment. To be also noted that at the counter of Finnair at Heathrow there were at all times people complaining. To be avoided at all costs.
