My busy small business account experience with Barclays has been a comedy from the start. If I was a scriptwriter I could make a fortune doing a sitcom from my experience.
I came in on a Fast Track via my solicitor, which actually delayed setup of my account. It took four weeks to 'fast track' and 'Priority!' my account setup.
I got sent pin codes but no cards. Then the cards came but were eaten by the machine when i used them. Then they sent cards, but no pin code.
My local business manager continues to call me Miss Morley (my address not my name).
I recently made international payments to Canada that were sent to the USA, and only because i had physical forms (thankfully didn't do this on the phone!!), papers as proof and stubbornness to keep calling (12 times!) did I get MOST of my charges returned.
I would love to include here excerpts from the official response to my complaint about the payment above - it's hilarious. Barclays have condescendingly made a 'goodwill' return of £27 on £61 of charges even though they are documented as having sent my payment to who knows where in America. It's PayPal for my company now!
I particularly love the 'we will get back to you within 48 hours' line that take 10 calendar days.
I have a rapidly expanding successful company and I can't spare the time to argue with every transaction i have with my bank.
Amusing and hilarious as I find Barclays, I am bailing out as soon as we find a new bank that cares about smaller business people.
PS I can't figure out how to put NO STARS on this review, as I would rate Barclays as really unusable.
