I would never ever recommend Hunters as a letting agency. They messed us about from day one and never return our calls. The only reason I stay with them is that I love my flat, but when I leave it I will never use them again. Their staff are unhelpful and very unreliable. They do not turn up to viewings and never apologise. We can never get hold of them when we want to and they perform stupidly frequent inspections then make petty comments like saying we hadn't hoovered one room well enough.

They failed to chase up our references even though we paid them for the service and we only got to move in on the right date by borrowing a vast sum of money to pay 6 months upfront because of their failing. They never pass mail on to the landlords and make rearranging inspections really tricky. They demand huge renewal fees every time our letting period is up despite the fact they dont actually seem to use this money to do anything about improving their customer service and have just raised our rent in the current economic climate with less than a month's notice!

It is very interesting to read reviews from customers and a shame that the customers never seem to want to talk to us about the issues directly. Unfortunately things do go wrong but unless you are informed that there is a problem you will never know.
Our renewall fee to prepare new contracts, send out to all parties for signature, then copy and forward copies is £50 plus VAT (Sadly we cannot let anyone of the VAT, that's for the government).
The only reason we ever require a full terms payment is because the tenants do not pass the credit control. They are always asked to prove HONEST data in the first instance so that when we check this, before sending it through to an outside firm to assess, we can advise then.
Cearly, not having the information to hand on this case we can not clear the actual situation up, but would welcome the write contacting us if they read this reply, so that we can discuss what happens and see how we can make sure it doesn't happen again.
