Dogpages is aimed at those involved in rescue or those who have rescue dogs. For advice and help the members are ok but if anyone dares to criticise the forum in any way the thread is locked immediately. The author is told to move on if they are not happy when in fact criticism isn't always a bad thing.
A huge problem with the site is that most members 'baby' their dogs to varying extents. I have a dog, he is a part of our family but he is a dog and is treated as such. We choose to have him in our lives, he is cared for, played with and groomed but he isn't allowed on the beds or on the furniture.
One final point, some members state that their dogs are as important if not more so than their children. Here I have to disagree. My children will always come before my dog and this is a view I daren't speak of on the forum as I would be shot down and made out to be the world's worst owner.
Good luck to anyone who dares to brave this forum, beware of the cliques!
