Many. Java, really good Mp3 player, Digital Recording, excellent voice command (try using nokia or samsung software and see if they can do the same, not a change), dictionary (can even translate from one language to another with extra software), excellent stereo push to talk headphones (crisp and crystal clear sound), Multimedia Card, good organizer and memo. Huge, but I mean huge telephone number database (500 numbers in phone + sim card - it also depends on the free amout you have in the mm card, could be up to 2000 or more numbers) with address, email and whatever you can think of.
Some ideas that fail. Better implementations would probably rise the price of the phone. Software could be "more" complete. Slow upload/download from pc/phone(why not usb?). Why the antenna? And of course, the price.
Guys, it seems you are forgeting some aspects relating to the mobile phone world. First, the Siemens sl45 was the first mobile phone with mp3 and mmc (if i'm not mistaken). Just like cars of a new series (eg. v. golf iv), they all come with defects and problems (bugs) in the first year, so, it's not advisable to buy them when they come out (a question of time, I guess). Of course if you buy them you have waranty. In the other hand, you don't get a free upgrade to fix the mobile (it's not only siemens that wants to reap your money but any big company out there) and you don't want to feel like a lab rat (at least not with your money). Nothing is perfect. Also, don't forget these things are extras. How many phones do you find with all the specifications that the sl45 has. The question about batery life is relative. It depends on how you use the phone, the quality of the operator, where you are, bla,bla,bla...
The motorola processor used in the sl45 is quite fast. The problem is related to the interface the phone uses. A palm top is faster but it also uses ram memory (8 to 32 Mb). So it speeds up the whole process of reading to and from the mmcs (if there is any). The sl45 doesn't have that capacity. It's still a mobile phone. Lets imagine this is an attempt to mix mobile, multimedia, computing and entertainment all in one. Don't expect all to go smood. I agree that the price for the sl45 is high, very high and not many people will buy it. Siemens is targeting a restricted market (the S4x series are for the mainstream market). Just look back and ask yourself the price for a digital voice recorder, or even an mp3 player. I agree that Nokias are VERY practical and if you are looking for a mobile phone than buy Nokia. But if you want that something extra than get siemens.
