Ludmilibomb's Review of Beeman P17

I bought the Beeman P17 last summer when I was bored and had a huge stack of old beer bottles I had to dispose of somehow. Though I had many options, the P17 stuck out to me as the weapon of choice.

I instantly fell in love with the gun and spent many hours shooting whatever I could find, and even bruised my hand from cocking it so much every day. It felt great in my (albeit oversized) hand, and shattered bottles like none other. The gun has a great deal of force and it's accurate enough to take down a bottle from 60 yards given good aim.

Then, after 1500 shots it started leaking air and its force went down to zero in a day. I left it aside until next summer, when I finally got a chance to fix it. I discovered that the cocking mechanism causes a decalibration of the pressure-release valve, and the O-ring around the piston is prone to damage. However, if you're willing to fool around in the shop and don't mind pulling it apart once in a while it's well worth the value. It's accuracy becomes near-perfect after you add a reflex or laser sight on the rail.

Power and Accuracy: Top notch
Reliability: None
Cocking force: A good workout
Handling: Fantastic.

Concluding thoughts: Get a set of Allen keys, a drift, needle-nose pliers and a reflex sight.
