I got my bank statement this month and with things being a bit tight I started questioning why the RAC were taking money from my account.

I gave them a call and apparently I have a membership thats been running for a few years at an old Flat I had in Glasgow.

I explained to them that I have no record of signing up for this and that they have the incorrect address. They then agreed that they would refund me last years membership money within 7 days and took my new address details.

A week later I hadn't recieved any refund and called back their national rate number and was told that they were now refunding by cheque and I had to wait a further 7 days for this.

Another week later and no cheque so I called them back and they told me they had accidentally sent the cheque to the old address and they would get it rectified. Again I was calling on a national rate number to have this dealt with.

A further week down the line and I called back again. They have lost all the details of this and a new handler is investigating. They now tell me that I am not getting anything refunded as I signed up online and it says in the small print they are entitled to continue the membership annually unless I tell them not to.

In short, They took money from my account with no effort to contact me, no signed direct debit agreement and now refuse to repay me anything despite the fact I didn't even know I had a membership and have had no benefit from it what so ever. It took me 10 calls to a national rate number totalling about £30 for them to draw this conclusion.

Not Impressed.
