Before returning to the UK last year I was living in Australia and I used internet banking there. I am used to my debit card transactions showing IMMEDIATELY in my internet banking, but instead here I notice that while the available amount is reduced the transaction doesn't show for several days. When it does it has a different date to when the transaction was made and there is no reference number or any way to tie it back to the transaction if I have made several purchases from the same shop over several different days. I am forced to keep my own spreadsheet to try to keep track of my purchases, but when my total differs from the available balance showing online, I have to wait several days for later transactions to come through to be able to reconcile the difference. Obviously the transaction has gone through at the point of sale, WHY can't it be shown online?
On occasions when I have tried to use the phone in my local branch to query something on my account or even to report my debit card lost, I have NEVER succeeded in getting through to the end of a call. Either I am put on hold for 45 minutes or more, at which point I give up, or the call is cut off halfway through while I'm speaking to someone, leaving me unwilling to go through the whole listening to inane music again to get back to where I started.
I am very frustrated with Barclays internet banking and starting to look around at other banks to see if they have better internet service.
