Terrible experience with Avis. We rented at Barcelona airport. Staff was extremely rude and impolite. Car we got was not cleaned properly, windows were smudgy and mirrors were unusable because of filth. I had to stop to clean windows before being able to drive at all. On car return same staff rudeness. As a small satisfaction, car I gave them back was covered in seagull's faeces (well, not my guilt to have seagulls allover Costa Brava), and I certainly hope guy that cleans had a big deal to remove all.
Now I know why all other rent-a-car offices on Barcelona airport are full, while Avis is like a ghost-town.
Best advice I can give to anyone - avoid Avis in wide circles.
