I just phoned post office home insurance to cancel my policy, I've moved home and our building fees include contents and buildings cover. At first I felt almost harassed by them, asking repeatedly why I didn't want their cover, and the woman I spoke to was quite rude. I was told that in order to cancel I must pay a large fee due to a claim that had been paid. The problems with this are that my contract says I can cancel my policy with only a £9 fee, and I never filed a claim with them.
My husband called to inquire about a broken laptop several months ago, but it was only an inquiry not a claim. They said it wasn't covered because we didn't have accidental coverage so we left it at that. Now I've been told that we did file a claim and they paid out the claim. Interesting, because I've never received any money from this and never actually filed a claim. The woman refused to tell me anything about the alleged claim, she said that was confidential information. It's my policy, is it not? Why is that confidential information?
Horrible! Do not use them!
