I had a letter from Saga stating the insurance renewal was due in June 2009 and that I did not need to do anything as it would be done automatically. On checking my next credit card statement expecting to see the insurance premium from Saga, I saw it hadn't been paid, I phoned Saga and was told the renewal had been cancelled but they couldn't tell me why.They stated I should have received 3 further letters requesting payment which I haven't had, I requested dates these letters were sent but was told they do not show on the system as they are automated. They said it could be re-instated but may take up to 24 hrs to do. I asked to speak to a manager but was told there was only one manager on duty and they could not take a call unless two managers were on but said they could ring back but could not give any idea how long it would be. I said this level of service was not acceptable and was told I should have phoned at a different time, not during dinner hours,which is the only time most employed people can ring. The vehcile has been driven every day for approx 1 month uninsured. Fortunately no incidents happened, imagine the trouble I could have been in with the Police. I have now reinsured with a different company and will never use saga again.
