What a thoroughly enjoyable holiday we had! Having read recent reviews about the Royal, Shearings hotel in Whitby, we were a little apprehensive about the food and condition of the hotel. We needn't have worried - we had a lovely big room on the first floor with floor to ceiling window, it was clean and comfortable. The food was excellent with lots of choice, beautifully presented and service was second to none.
The foyer, bar and entertainment areas were spacious with comfortable lounges throughout the ground floor.
Staff were very friendly, helpful and a minor problem of a noisy fan in an adjacent bedroom was sorted immediately.
Excursions were varied and well-informed.
I would certainly recommend this holiday/hotel (but try to book a seaview room - some of the back rooms overlooked the car park and seagull nests, and, as it was breeding time, their squawking went on all night!)
We have had quite a few holidays with Shearings but this one was the best.
