5 months ago I upgtaded my 1.1 fiat punto (extremley reliable even if a terrible looking car) to a Volkswagen Golf 1.6 SE. It had 58k on the clock and so I immediantly changed the cam belt.
However, I have a screeching noise occasionaly upon starting the engin, which my local garage seems to think could be the starter motor, and also is alot lot slower than I thouight it woudl be. All websites I have been on say the toop speed is 117mph, but mine tops out at 105mph and that is at around 5200rpm! Somebody told me that my car sounds as though the exhaust is going to blow....
