I love the Pleasure Beach, which is now better than when I was a kid as you can buy a wristband and go on as many rides as you want. This means that you really have to make it an all-day thing to get your money's worth, but that is fine with me as I now live away and make a day at the Pleasure Beach part of visits "back home".
They introduced a charge to go into the park this year (even if you don't want to go on rides), which is unpopular with some but AFAIK is in line with what other theme parks do.
The Pleasure Beach has a good range of rides from the White Knuckle stuff down to things that wimpy parents like me can go on with their kids, e.g. the Tetley Teacups and a kiddies' log flume (although I got a nosebleed on that one from bumping into my daughter's head on the descent!).
They have kept some of the venerable old rides, e.g. Ghost Train, which isn't too scary, and the River Caves ("Tunnel of Love"), the interior of which has been thoroughly updated with a journey-round-the-world theme. I was disappointed that the traditional "Roller Coaster" was closed the day I went, and hope this isn't a permanent thing. Several rides are under cover, which is definitely a plus in the British climate! I definitely like the blend of both old and new rides in this park.
Food outlets are o.k., we had the fried chicken which is halal and was quite good. There is also a burger king and some more upmarket looking restaurants/bars that we didn't bother with.
Queues are minimal compared to other theme parks (esp those in N America) which is a definite plus.
The day we went, they closed at about 6 p.m. which seemed a bit too early on a summer's day. The atmosphere in the park was friendly and pleasant, any boisterousness we saw was good natured, and the staff were all friendly and helpful.
