I've owned a Bose Acoustimass 7 system for several years and have never really understood how they got such great sound to come out of such small speakers. I've never noticed any highs or lows missing, in fact, if I turn up the volume much past 6 (on a scale of 1-30) the floor vibrates, the kitchen cabinets vibrate and you can feel your backbone vibrate. No lack of bass here. I'm not saying Bose is the absolute best, but this guy must have them hooked up to a Walkman or something.

The weakness is in the lack of midrange not principally in the base or treble. Also bass can be strong but also boomy and inarticulate.
