I bought a rotary watch from one of their branches. The watch was a dud. As part of the sale Ernest Jones gave me a promotional voucher worth £100 if you spend another £300 at another time. I threw the voucher away as had no need for it.

The watch sold was a dud. I return to the store and the assistant cannot find a replacement watch. I ask for my money back. No refund without the voucher she says. What follows is a heated debate as to how you cannot refuse to refund on a dud sale on the basis of a promotional voucher return.

I tell her to refer to customer services. She does and they relent. I get my money back. She then tops it off by saying she wouldn't have refunded me the money without the voucher.

My wife finds the voucher after this event in the bottom of our bin bag and we return it as it obviously means so much to them (complete with sticky sauce on it).

I leave you to draw your own conclusions on this matter but there are plenty of far superior jewellers/watchmakers out there who dont treat you like this.
