Dark Calling
By Darren Shan
Darren Shan, Dark Calling has great twists exciting from beginning to end.
This story is told by Cornelius Flek (Kernal) one of three other magicians.
The story picks of from the last one. Kernal is part of an ancient powerful machine called the Kah-Gash. The other two magicians are called Grubbs and Bec. Magicians are people with very powerful magic powers, there are others that are mages but are not as powerful. Kernal is taken by a powerful source that has many names but they call them the old creatures. The old creatures were the makers of the universe. Kernal finds out that the world is going to die and that he can help save a group of creatures but he doesn't want to. He also finds out that the Kah-Gash is made of three parts, the trigger (Grubbs) (the one who triggers the magic power of the Kah-Gash) the memory (Bec) (the one who can remember the past and others when you touch them) and the eyes (Kernal) (the one who can see the souls and lights)
When he gets back to the others he finds out that his old friend Beranabus another magician has been killed by the shadow a things that they have been looking for for a long time, he finds out that the shadow is death and got a body and mind when Bec revived after 600 years. They go after Death and find there way into it. Kernal sees Beranabus's soul and they start talking about how to kill death but Beranabus says that there is no hope. When they get out the land in a big area full of demons and they narrowly escape.
I believe this is one of the best Darren Shan books ever.
The next book is called Hells Heroes and I hope that is even scarier.
