Got close to agreeing a price on a property we wanted to buy as first time buyers and dropped out because of Bairstow Eves as agents. Wrote to the seller to share our experience with him. They tried their hardest to get us into a bidding war with a mysterious other buyer who was in an identical sitution to us after we'd given proof of deposit already and when market is in decline. Mysterious other bidder allegedly offered £500 more than the price the seller had already verbally agreed with us. Used stalling tactics to get us to raise our offer - seller was away and they wouldn't let us treat the amount the seller said he would accept as a counter offer, so were forced to wait for acceptance. Was being dealt with by a trainee, wouldn't let me speak to a manager. Know estate agents have a reputation but I found Bairstow Eves practices decidedly inethical and wasn't prepared to buy from an agent I didnt trust. Seller still has the property on the market 2 months later at a much lower price with a different agent.
